A . RULES OF THE SN GOLF GROUP

I. DEFINITION OF THE SN GOLF GROUP.  

A. The SN Golf Group is a convivial association of golfers who are employees active or retired of a Belgian airline .

The Group endeavors to meet regularly during the season to hold friendly golf competitions.

B. Matches being organized on the courses of Belgian (or foreign) golf clubs, members must of necessity be affiliated to a club attached to the Belgian Golf Federation (or to a recognized foreign federation).

II . COMMITTEE

A. The association is governed by an elected committee (full SN members only except one member but never the President may be an non SN) whose duties include the management of everyday activities. Among these are to be mentioned :

1) Presenting a program of activities.

2) Organizing monthly competitions.

3) Contacts with golf clubs or other official national or international organizations.

4) Selection of the official SNGG teams.

5) Financial and administrative matters.

6) Acceptance of membership applications.

7) Establishing, and if necessary adapting, SN Golf Group rules and bye-laws.

8) Upholding golf etiquette and respect of the rules of clubs visited by the SN Golf Group.

A particular attention is paid to the attire. In the club-house wearing jacket and tie is recommended and mandatory in Royal Golf Clubs or if specified in the local dress code, or on the starter’s list.

B. The committee is composed of the following officers :

Other members may also be elected should this be considered necessary.     C. A member in good standing may propose his name for election to the committee (full SN.G.G. members only except see above). This is to be done in writing to the Secretary at least eight days before the Annual General Assembly. Such a proposition shall be seconded.

III . MEMBERSHIP.

  1. Membership of the SN Golf Group is basically restricted to Belgian aviation staff, full time permanent contract, active, fore-pensioned or retired, and also to the spouses and dependent children. In principal, any person holding a ”Belgian Aviation Matricula number ”is eligible and as specified in the relevant O.S.G.
  2. However, a maximum of 10% of the actual SN G.G. members can be extended to Non-SN G.G. golfers . Are considered as Non-SN G.G. members all players who are not working in/for the Belgian aviation world.
1) Application for membership of the SN Golf Group shall be submitted by means of the appropriate form or its email equivalent. A proposer and a seconder are required. The application form or the email is to be forwarded to the Secretary who will submit the candidature to the committee.
2) Upon approval by the committee, the application will be published to members through the monthly newsletter.
3) Objections are to be made known to a Committee member in writing before the next regular monthly meeting. The veto of 7 members will entail the rejection of the application. However, in the case of grave misdemeanor being brought to the notice of the committee, the President (or in his absence the Vice-President) may refuse membership.
 
 
 

Members who are in arrears of payment of the annual dues shall be excluded after three reminders.

The President and the Captain may propose to the committee a sanction to a member for unbecoming conduct or breach of golfing etiquette.

IV . ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY

1) An annual General Assembly shall be convened by the Committee after the “Close of the Season” meeting. All members of the SN Golf Group in good standing may attend the General Assembly and have the right to vote.
2) The Secretary and the Treasurer will present their annual reports at the General Assembly Meeting.
3) The Treasurer’s report will be audited by two members present at the assembly (these are to be elected).
4) The Assembly will elect the officers for the ensuing year.
5) All other business of general interest to the welfare of the association is open for discussion at this meeting. An emergency General Assembly may be called at any time by the committee if deemed necessary.

Upon the written request of seven members in good standing, an Emergency General Assembly shall be convened .

V . FEES AND INSURANCE

1) The annual fee shall be decided by the Annual General Assembly.
2) An entrance fee may also be proposed and voted upon by the Annual General Assembly.
3)Annual membership fees must be paid during the month of January.A general reminder will be sent by the end of January.
The treasurer will sent a personal reminder to those members who haven’t paid before our first summer cup competition.
If no payment received before the second competition the member will be considered as guest and By-Laws V will apply ( no prize )
If still no payment received before our 3rd competition the member(s) involved will be deprived from access to the SNGG site and must so be invited by an active member as guest and allowed only to play 3 times per season.
Only the committee has the authority to derogate to this By-Law.In case of exclusion from the association, a member shall not be entitled to a refund.     

VI . RULES AND SANCTIONS.

1) The St Andrews Rules apply to all SN Golf Group competitions.
2) Local rules of clubs visited by our association are also to be respected and members are presumed to have obtained knowledge of them before the start of the game.
1) Infringement of these above rules may be sanctioned by the Captain in accordance with the St Andrews rulings.
2) A player found not to be respecting the rules (wishful cheating) will be disqualified. In case of repeated offense, the Captain may propose other sanctions to the committee (see bye-laws V).

VII . ANNUAL COMPETITIONS

The SN Golf Group endeavors to organize from March to October, a monthly competition. If possible, these meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month. A first draft of the annual program will be proposed by the General Assembly. In case of necessity, the committee will modify the draft program in the best interest of the association.

VIII . INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS

The Committee is responsible for the selection of SN teams participating at international meetings. To participate, a member must be in good standing. The Committee will endeavor to give preference to those members who attend regularly the monthly meeting.

IX. PRIZES, CUPS AND TROPHIES.

1) Monthly prizes may be offered by a member or a group of members
2) It is recommended that prizes should be strictly limited in number as is the general practice in Belgian clubs. (see Bye-law: VIII A).
3) At meetings where there are no sponsors, prizes may be presented by the SN Golf Group.
4) Every sponsor is entitled to receive a part of the” Prize distribution purse ” to increase his/her/their budget. see Bye-laws IV.

1) The Summer & Senior Trophies and Merit prizes are presented at the “Close of Season” banquet held each year. Winners must be present to receive these prizes and only members on duty can be excused

a) Summer trophies Men Officials  &  Ladies Officials
b) Merit prizes Men Non-Officials  or  Ladies Non-Officials (temporary suspended)
c) Senior’s Trophy is common to Ladies and Gentlemen aged 50 or more regardless of their handicap. A player is considered senior as from the 1st of January of the year he is reaching the above age.

2) The trophies are awarded on the basis of the 3 best single Stableford scores achieved during the year. (In case of a draw, refer to bye-law VIII. For this purpose, stroke play results are converted into Stableford.

Other Cups or Trophies may be presented. Specific rules shall be detailed in the bye-laws.

X . VISITORS AND GUESTS.

  1. In view of the fact that the Association meets as the guest of host Clubs, and so to maintain the SN “Personality”, it is necessary to restrict the number of non SN G.G. visitors.
  2. A member may invite one guest per meeting. However, no more than three invitations shall be extended per competition, per season, per person.
  3. A guest may not participate at more than 3 meetings per season.
  4. In view of avoiding an excessive number of guests at any meeting, members are required to advise a committee member (preferably the Secretary or the Assistant-Secretary) of their wish of bringing in a guest. The request should be made at least one week before the competition.
  5. Guests are not entitled to prizes nor do they benefit from possible special green-fee rates, or other courtesies which a host club may extend to the SN Golf Group. The committee may, in exceptional circumstances, make derogation’s to these rules.

XI . AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES AND BYE-LAWS.

  1. Amendments to the rules of the SN Golf Group shall be submitted to the Annual General Assembly.
  2. Bye-laws may be adapted by the Committee.

B.  BYE-LAWS

I . COMMITTEE.

In the absence of the Treasurer, financial matters will be managed by the Secretary.

The request to wear Tie and/or Jacket will be mentioned on the starters list.                 

II . MEMBERSHIP.

  1. Within the SN Golf Group, Non SN membership will be restricted to:
1) Former Belgian Airline members who have honorably resigned from their company.
2) Members of associated companies.
3) Other candidates may be proposed for membership at the committee’s discretion. For this category of members, the Secretary will keep a waiting-list. Priority will be on the basis of the date of application.
4) The committee may also propose the election of Honorary members.

The name of an applicant will be made known to members (normally at the first possible monthly meeting) and in the following newsletter . Membership is valid as from the next meeting.

III . GENERAL ASSEMBLY.  

  1. The Annual General Assembly is presided by the President or, in his absence, by the Vice-President. In the event of both being absent, the Assembly will be presided by the Senior Officer (see order of seniority Rules-Committee IIb). The same rule applies for an emergency General Assembly.
  2. In the case of interminable and inconclusive debates, the Presiding Officer has the right and duty to interrupt the proceedings. The Annual General Assembly being foreseen for three hours maximum (one hour for an emergency meeting).

IV . ANNUAL FEES.  

The annual fees are the sum of the annual membership fee and the prize distribution fee (to constitute a purse to be shared among the sponsors of the various competitions)

The SNGG prizes contribution is fixed to 130 € for the sponsor of a competition.

V . RULES AND SANCTIONS.  

In the case of repeated offenses (willful cheating, etc…), the Captain may propose to the committee the following sanctions:

1)  Prize privation.

2)  Prohibiting the member from attending meetings of the association for a given period of time.

3) Excluding the member from the SN Golf Group. The committee’s decision is final.

VI . ANNUAL COMPETITIONS.

A. The committee may decide to organize extra meetings (Winter cups. special meetings, etc).

B. Prizes sponsors will have priority in choosing the course selected for their sponsored competition. This also applies to the date of the meeting . In case of conflicts (i.e. between sponsors) or disagreement regarding the proposed club, date or other matters, the final decision will be taken by the committee.

C. The SN Golf Group competitions are played according to the “Stableford” formula and in four categories :

1) Gentlemen Officials : Handicap from 0 to 20,4
2) Gentlemen Non-Officials : Handicap from 20,5 to 36.
3) Ladies Officials : Handicap from 0 to 24,4
4) Ladies Non-Officials: Handicap from 24,5 to 36

Note : Official categories will normally (but not mandatory) play from the back tees, Non-Official categories will play from the front tees. This is only valid for singles matches. And in accordance with the Club rules and/or the course condition.

At the Captain’s discretion : one or more competitions may be “Stroke Play” matches (the applicable categories are also determined by the Captain).

On the basis of the attendance at the monthly meetings, the committee may modify the handicap requirements of the categories . The number of categories may also be adapted.

D. All members playing in the annual competitions are presumed to have an handicap of 36 or less or have the green card and so the maximum playing handicap will be 36.

E. Men over 65 and Ladies over 60 are allowed to use a golf-car without medical certificate.

F. Starter’s duties :

A starter should check at least two days ahead the starting list on the SNGG website .

He will verify that every entry on the starting list is correctly and thoroughly filled by each player with a special attention to the correct exact handicap.

He will look for and verify:

•  The course(s) to be played
•  That he has the score cards available.
•  Lists to convert the correct handicap into the playing handicap or strokes received (versus gender and category)
•  The local rules or any applicable rules for that day (ex: Winter rules, etc…).
•  The method of paying the green-fee. (through himself or the local secretary).
•  The availability of trolleys and what is the cost.
•  How to get the practice balls and what they cost.
•  The way to the practice and the first tee.

The starter will be relieved of his duties 30 minutes after the officially announced first tee-off time as published on the website. However, members arriving after this time will be welcome to join the competition but will have to settle the green fee with the club caddymaster or secretary’s office and arrange their game.

VII . INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS. (As from 1999).

  1. A.S.C.A. Cup International European Airlines. Usually in June played by 4 to 6 Gentlemen, 2 to 4 Ladies. Players must be active or retired airline personnel. Formula: First day: 4BBB, scratch Stableford. Second day: Single, scratch Stableford.
  2. K.L.M. l.A.P. Cup some European Airlines. Usually end of August, maximum 4 men. Players must be active airline pilots. Formula: two days Stableford full handicap. Location : usually at Kennemer, Zandvoort (NL).

VIII . PRIZES. CUPS AND TROPHIES.

The committee recommends that the prizes per category should be presented on the following basis:

1 Prize for up to 5 players.

2 Prizes for 6 to 8 players.

3 Prizes for 9 or more players.

Bearing in mind that some members are associated with different and several groups of sponsors, these sponsors may accept prizes which they have offered.

1) The Summer Trophies (one for the Ladies and one for the Gentlemen) belong to the SN Golf Group and have to be returned before the last meeting of the following season.
2) Winners of the previous year may receive a diminutive souvenir cup.
3) In case of a draw, the four highest scores will be taken into account. However, should one of the contenders not have 4 participation’s, the total score of the 9 last holes of the three best cards will be taken into account. If necessary, the total of the last 9 holes of their 2 best 18 holes will be taken. If still equal the last 9 holes of their best 18 holes will then be taken to determine the winner.
4) In case of a draw in a Stableford competitions, the total score on the last 9, 6 or 3 holes will be initially taken into account. Then, if necessary, the score on the last hole or finally the lowest handicap.
5) In case a player changes of category during the year, the total number of competitions in either category will determine in which category he will be classified for the summer cup. If equal, he will remain in the initial category.
6) All summer trophies are non cumulative. Priority is given to the summer cup trophy (or merit prize depending on the category).

IX . VISITORS AND GUESTS.      

It is presumed that guests of members invited to participate at SN Golf Group competitions are in “good standing” with their golf club (officially recognized) and as such, are fully insured.

X . AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES AND BYE-LAWS.

A majority of one vote is necessary to amend the SN Golf Group rules (“simple majority”). In case of an inconclusive ballot, the President or his substitute shall have a casting vote.
